Agronomy and Plant Breeding

Objectives

To define research efforts across Europe to 1) understand the effects of farming practices, including conventional – organic farming, on asparagine formation in grain, based on an overview of recent and/or planned field research with wheat, oats, maize, barley, and rye, 2) identify pathways for the reduction of free asparagine levels in cereal cultivars through plant breeding, and 3) include asparagine levels in standard information on cultivars.
