Our community recently gathered in Palermo. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together researchers, scientists, industry experts, and representatives of research institutions and policy organisations to exchange knowledge, share the latest scientific advances, and discuss future perspectives on acrylamide mitigation in cereal products.
We were delighted to welcome leaders of our workpackages and an outstanding group of speakers representing academia, research institutions, industry, and the European Commission: Nigel G. Halford – ACRYRED Chair, Rothamsted Research, UK; Stefania Masci – University of Viterbo “La Tuscia”, Italy; Zuzana Ciesarová – National Agricultural and Food Centre – NPPC, Slovakia, WG5 Leader; Veronica Nowakowski – University of California, Berkeley, USA; @Anna SzafraĹ„ska– @DÄ…browski Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology, Poland; Marta Mesias Garcia – Instituto de Ciencia y TecnologĂa de Alimentos y NutriciĂłn (ICTAN-CSIC), Spain; Vural Gökmen – Hacettepe University, TĂĽrkiye, WG5 co-leader; Colm Campion – Cereal Partners Worldwide (NestlĂ© & General Mills), UK; KristĂna Kukurová – National Agricultural and Food Centre – NPPC, Slovakia; KĂĽbra Damla EKENCİ, Ph.D – Bandırma Onyedi EylĂĽl University, TĂĽrkiye; Elena Baldoni – IBBA-CNR National Research Council, Italy, WG2 Leader; Hind El Hadri – European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), Italy; @MatÄ›j Ĺ ĹĄastnĂ˝ – Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Czech Republic; Federica Galli – University of Lausanne, Switzerland; Neil Buck – General Mills, Switzerland, Tanya Curtis and Meleksen Akin leaders of WG4, Jane Parker and Christine Nowakowski leaders of WG3 and MaĹ‚gorzata Starowicz– science communication coordinator.
The conference also featured an engaging poster session, providing an excellent platform for researchers to present their latest findings and exchange ideas.
Another highlight was the round-table discussion, focused on the important question: 💡 “Integration of Knowledge on Asparagine and Acrylamide for Health and Legislation – What to Do Now?”
We were pleased to have an excellent panel contributing to this important discussion: Dr. Viktor Korzun – KWS Group, Germany; Federica Gilardi, Colm Campion; Marta MesĂas, and Nigel Halford.
Many thanks to Elena Baldoni, Andrea Colafranceschi, and Geraint Parry for their great efforts in organising this successful event and bringing our community together.
A big thank you to all our speakers, poster presenters, participants, and colleagues for making this such a valuable and inspiring meeting.
We look forward to continuing this important scientific exchange and working together towards safer and more sustainable cereal products! 🌾🔬
